Daifuku Elite Line Services (ELS) has secured a contract to provide operation and maintenance support for the in-line baggage handling system (BHS) and passenger boarding bridges at the Humphrey Terminal (T2) in Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, US.

Metropolitan Airports Commission (MAC) awarded the five-year contract, including maintenance responsibility for the Daifuku Logan Baggage Handling System.

The Daifuku BHS features 4,586ft of conveyor belts, four claim units, 64 power turns and seven high-speed diverters.

ELS will also offer operational support for the system’s control room monitoring and clearing system jams.

Elite Line Services chief operating officer Ian Charters said: “This new contract award recognises the value achieved in both exceeding customer expectations, and by developing a true partnership with the airport’s stakeholders.

“ELS sees this as further evidence that the quality and consistency of our maintenance programmes are leading the industry in meeting the high service requirements expected by today’s airport managers.”

Maintenance of the terminal’s 15 passenger boarding bridges will be managed by ELS.  The bridges are equipped with pre-conditioned air units and 400Hz ground power units.

The company operates as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Daifuku North America Holding, which is a subsidiary of material handling solutions provider Daifuku.
