Daifuku Project Manager Named Top 40 Under 40 for 2024

Johnny Luna joined Daifuku in 2021 as an Associate Project Manager and has since progressed to Project Manager, successfully managing multiple simultaneous projects under budget and on time. His portfolio of managed contracts is valued at more than $200 million.

Johnny exemplifies the standard for project managers at Daifuku and drives his assignments to closure with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency earning him recognition as one of the aviation industry’s Top 40 Under 40 in Airport Business.

Johnny’s leadership skills and professional ethos were developed during his time in the United States Marine Corps, which included a combat deployment to Afghanistan. In 2020, Johnny was honorably discharged at the rank of Sergeant. He went on to complete his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration the same year, through Indiana University East.

He is active in the International Association of Baggage System Companies (IABSC) Young Professionals team and attends many airport conferences to remain abreast of industry standards and trends. While attending IABSC conferences, Johnny takes advantage of networking with other professionals in the Airport Baggage Handling business. Meeting suppliers, contractors, and users enables Johnny to maintain important relationships and better understand the needs of stakeholders.

As a diligent manager, Johnny is driven to succeed and progress in the industry and in his career. In 2022, he earned his Master of Business Administration (MBA) at Ball State University, and in 2023, he completed the Cornell University Certificate Program in Project Management. He subsequently became a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) through the Project Management Institute.

Johnny focuses on developing meaningful and trustworthy relationships with internal and external customers and teams. He ensures that project schedules are adhered to, maintains stakeholder buy-in, and closely monitors and corrects adherence to budgets. His customers praise his work ethic and respect his abilities.
