Daifuku Senior Project Manager Named Top 40 Under 40 for 2025

We are pleased to announce that Phil Wellington, Senior Project Manager at Daifuku Airport America, has been honored as one of this year’s Airport Business 40 Under 40 award recipients. This recognition is reserved for the most dynamic and impactful young professionals in their fields.

Phil’s career foundation began with a Mechanical Engineering degree from Ohio University, complemented by a minor in Mathematics. Before joining Daifuku, he gained hands-on experience as a Site Project Engineer/Manager in construction management, honing skills in scheduling, resource allocation, and quality control. Phil transitioned to a Baggage Handling System (BHS) Project Manager at Daifuku in 2020. Since then, he has risen through the ranks and recently led one of the company’s largest projects, the Terminal Modernization Program at Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT). His proactive approach to risk management and seamless coordination across teams ensured the project’s success and enhanced airport operations.

Phil has spent the past five years at Daifuku building a strong foundation in project management. From the beginning, he showed the ability to handle complex projects, work effectively with cross-functional teams, and consistently deliver results that meet client expectations. Phil combines technical knowledge with strong communication skills, helping teams work well together and building trust with colleagues, stakeholders, and clients.

Beyond his projects, Phil actively pursues professional development through conferences, workshops, and training sessions, staying ahead of emerging technologies and trends. He also serves as a mentor, guiding junior colleagues and fostering a culture of innovation. His leadership extends to public speaking engagements, including panel discussions for the International Association of Baggage System Companies (IABSC) and presentations at the Future Travel Experience World Innovation Summit. These contributions underscore his dedication to collaboration and continuous improvement within the BHS industry.
